U.S. Postal History Balance, interesting balance of approx. 32 covers and a couple letters, noted includes "Salt Lake City U.T." cds use with #26 to Wilmington Del., E.S. Zeveley artist and wood engraver #11A corner card cover; Samuel Osgood free frank cover front, "Union" patriotic cover with excellent letter from Pvt James C. Gosselin, 22nd Illinois Reg't's color bearer, datelined Camp Lyon Nov. 9th 1861 remarkably detailed account of the Battle of Belmont; "Via Panama" illustrated rigged ship corner card cover with #35 to Stapleton N.Y., etc.; some faults, F.-V.F.

Western Trails and Western Missouri Postal History, group of over 50 covers and some additional letters, maps and illustrations, noted includes gold rush and trail letters, 1849 "Parkville Mo." ms. postmark letter with gold rush excitement content "…The California Excitement is Running very strong here at this time there is a great many talking of going in the Spring they are of the opinion they Can Just Scrape the Gold by handfuls…", 1851 gold rush letter only from Stockton Cal. "cannot think of coming soone - as I have just commenced to make a little money"; 1851 Council Grove Mo. letter from Lt. Col. D.S. Miles of 3rd Inf. reporting that he is enroute to New Mexico, 1850 Fort Leavenworth cds letter "I am to leave the Fort tomorrow for Santa Fe. I have written C.R. Curtis Esq. who will in case of necessity give you the necessity give you the necessary power of attorney…I hope your services will not be required but in case of death or unexpected calamity…"; two "Fort Craig N.M." cds #26 covers, Saint Joseph Mo. cds use w/#68 endorsed "overland mail" to Placerville Cal.; 1816 "St. Louis/ Apr. 25" two-line postmark on letter from Lt. Col. at Fort Belle Fontaine requisition of white belts for 9th U.S. Inf.; 1818 "St. Louis / July 2" two-line postmark on letter from Thomas Douglass seeking authorization to "complete payments to Rangers militias", 1841 "Fort Osage Mo" ms. postmark letter, 1850 red Kansas Mo. cds use describing a family member who went to Cal. to hunt for gold; 1849 Independence Mo. gold rush trail letter, etc.; some mixed condition, wonderful group with some good content, F.-V.F.
