Sudan, Specialized Stamp and Postal History Collection, extensive intact collection arranged and written-up on stockpages in well over two dozen binders; starting with a six volume stamp collection from the 1897 Provisional issue including sets of the six settings, overprint varieties, forgeries, similar due issues with a section of telegraph overprints, telegraph issues and overprint stationery, 1898 Camel Post issues with numerous */o sets, blocks, etc., later issues in similar fashion including better plate and perf varieties, forgeries, Officials including perfin varieties, proof, etc., also an Egypt collection with a showing of the early issues including some interpostal seals, shade studies, some later issues and back-of-the-book, etc., two volumes of 1853-1896 Egyptian Sudan with interpostal seals, study of cancel on Egypt stamps with many scarce townmarks including Suakim (Stagg type 2) on two 5pa pairs (one with sheet margin) on piece, British Army mail including incoming to Capt Gordon, early 1853 folded letter from Khartoum, local 876 hand carried letter from Charles Gordon to the German Vice-Consul in Khartoum, study of Khartoum cancel and a scarce 1884 "Gordon of Khartoum" 500pi siege currency, extensive post 1896 postmark & postal history collection (16 volumes) by various provinces and territories including Northern Province including the discovery copy of the Kerma type 35 oval cancel on a block of 8 of 1898 overprint telegraph stamps, Kassala Province including many multi-frankings covers and an unusual large on piece usage from Port Sudan, Blue Nile with a 1909 Barankwa cancel (type 19-5, only two complete cancels have been seen), unique and unrecorded example of a 1906 Abbasia-Sudan postmark and a rare Goz-Abu-Goma cds from the same period, excellent showing of Khartoum Province, Kordofan with a rare 1908 army "Camp of Exercise" cover (unrecorded usage for early "K-D" cancel), Wadi Halfa including a lovely Cook's Nile Steamboat corner card cover, 1897 5m inverted overprint issue used at Wadi Halfa, very rare interpostal seal with full Wadi Halfa cancel (considered unique as such), 1884 Nile Expedition cover to Ireland, interesting section of Equatoria Province and Bahr El Ghazal & Upper Nile with rare Lado Enclave cancels on Congo issues, also section of Traveling P.O.'s and Retta cancellations, and much more; in addition there is substantial backstock and early literature including many handbook and early auction catalogs; a truly wonderful assembly of Sudan.
