Ecuador, 1865, 1r Yellow Orange, Bisect, upper left portion of stamp with clear to large margins, deep color and early impression, tied by "Guaranda, 15 Dec, 67" cds on folded letter sheet to Riobamba paying the ½r internal rate up to 1 oz., Very Fine, fewer than five bisect usages of this stamp are known originating from an early printing, ex-Longhi; with 2009 Moorhouse certificate.
Scott No. 4c    Estimate $1,000 - 1,500.

Due to a shortage of the ½r denomination at the end of 1867, bisect usages were required to meet the demand.

Ecuador, 1865, 1r Orange, Horizontal Strip of Six, positions 31-36, clear to ample margins, tied by dotted lozenge cancels on part Judicial wrapper to Riobamba, matching bold "Guaranda, 15 Juin, 67" cds and manuscript "12 oz" weight notation at left; file fold creasing between first and second stamp in strip, Very Fine, this is one of the largest multiples known of the 1r orange fine impression.

Ecuador, 1865, 1r Orange Cinnamon, margins large to just into top left corner, tied by "Quito, Franca, 1 Feb, 65" cds on Judicial wrapper front with backflap to Ibarra; wrapper reduced at bottom, otherwise Very Fine, this being one of the earliest usages of this stamp, ex-Longhi.

Ecuador, 1865, 1r Orange Cinnamon, Horizontal Strip of Three, margins huge to just touching at upper left, tied by two strikes of "Guaranda, 6 Feb, 67" cds on cover front to Quito, Very Fine, a very late usage of this early first printing, ex-Ayora.

Ecuador, 1865, 1r Orange Cinnamon, Blocks of 4 and 8, positions 44-45 / 53-54 and 8-9 / 17-18 / 26-27 / 35-36 respectively, positions 9 & 18 in block of 8 showing embossed arms variety, in combination with 1865 ½r blue on Judicial wrapper front to Riobamba, tied by dotted lozenge cancels with matching "Latacunga, 23 Aout, 65" cds additionally tying ½r, Very Fine, this being the second largest multiple known of the 1r orange fine impression on cover, fewer than five covers are recorded bearing the full embossed arms in two positions, ex-Olgieser.

Ecuador, 1865, 1r Orange, Horizontal Pair, margins large to just shaving frameline at top right, on Judicial front to Guaranda tied by "Latacunga, 13 Dec, 65" cds's, turned use with reverse addressed to Latacunga and franked with 1865 1r green, vertical pair tied by "Guaranda, 3 Dec 65" cds and dotted lozenge handstamps; few minor internal holes on front, Very Fine.
