Ecuador, 1865, 1r Yellow Buff, Pair, on two on judicial wrappers; includes vertical pair (pre-use scuff affecting one stamp) on wrapper front to Guaranda tied by "Ambato, 5 Mai" cds's, and horizontal pair in buff on wrapper to Quito tied by "Guaranda, 19 Mars" cds, both with manuscript "3½ oz" weight notation, F.-V.F.

Ecuador, 1865, 1r Yellow, Right Margin Horizontal Pair, positions 17-18, wide sheet margin showing rule line, margins close to in, tied by "Guayaquil, 27 Oct, 68" cds on folded letter to Lima, Peru, clear receiving backstamp; cover with a couple clip rust stains, otherwise Very Fine.

Lot 5142    

Ecuador, 1865, 1r Yellow, Diagonal Bisect, bottom left portion of stamp in combination with 1865, 1r yellow on folded letter sheet to Lima, Peru, tied by "Guayaquil, 8 Dic, 68" cds's with clear receiving postmark on reverse, the 1½r franking underpays the 2r single external rate up to ¼ oz. and apparently was accepted or overlooked by the postal clerk who dispatched the cover, Very Fine.

AN EXCEPTIONAL BISECT FRANKING OF THE 1 REAL YELLOW ISSUE AND UNIQUE ON PRIVATE CORRESPONDENCE.

Ecuador, 1865, 1r Orange Buff, Vertical Strip of Nine, positions 16 / 25 / 34 / 43 / 52 / 61 / 70 / 79 / 88, margins mostly large to in at upper left and bottom, in combination with 1865, ½r blue on oversized Judicial wrapper to Chimbo, all tied by "Riobamba, 9 Fevr, 6" cds's, Very Fine, this being the second largest multiple of the 1r yellow on cover, ex-Gebauer.
