Cover was prepaid 9d for a ¼ oz. letter to the United Kingdom via Marseilles that departed Port Chalmers on Aug. 18th and arrived at Marseilles on Oct. 15th.

Dunedin, Otago MY-18 63" cds backstamp on blue cover to Glasgow, North Britain, endorsed "Via Marseilles" at top left, red "Deficient Postage / Fine" two-line handstamp filled out "3" and "6" respectively, large corresponding "9d" due rating, Glasgow (7.10) arrival backstamp; bottom edge tear, some perf toning and 6d small faults at top, still a Very Fine and scarce short paid use.
