Philippines, Revenue, Provisional, 1898, 50c Sello, "CHS" initials, clear to ample margins, tied by light purple oval handstamp on Nov 4 / 98 licence to conduct a store; file fold affecting stamp, otherwise Very Fine, a late usage of the Provisional 50c Sello issue as the supply of these stamps was exhausted days after this usage (Warren 353A).

Mudget initialed stamps as he was sent home sick in early 1899 (Warren 354C, 347C).

Lot 1751

Philippines, Revenue, Provisional, 1899 Manuscript "Stamp" in Box, red initials "GRC", at lower left of United States Custom House permission form dated 9th Jan, 1899, stamp canceled by blue boxed "Canceled" handstamp, this unusual "stampless" procedure was O.K.'d by junior officials with "OK W.E.B." and "D.Y.M." initials, additionally signed by collector of customs G.R. Colton; some light toning and slight soiling, F.-V.F., an extremely rare emergency provisional revenue usage just prior to the issuance of the 1899 Sello issue, ex-Dr. Perry.
