3¢ 1851-57 Issue Postal History - Advertising and Illustrated Mail, collection of 180 including illustrated and cameos, noted includes Lincoln and Hamlin Campaign rail splitter use; Intemperance is the Curse of the World illustrated design; Southern Ohio Lunatic Asylum of Dayton; three different all-over Phonography designs; Depot for Maps of New York City; Geo. C. Collister of Blandford Mass. green cameo; University of Va. all-over shaded ad; New York Corn Exchange red cameo; Daily Weekly Democrat of Louisville shield corner card; McCorkle & Co. Grocers and Commission Merchants and Mfg. of Chewing and Smoking Tobacco of Lynchburg Va.; etc., Wm. Davison & Co. Mfg. of Chemicals, Paints, Vanishes & c. of Baltimore blue cameo; etc.; mixed condition but many better and rare designs, F.-V.F.

Advertising Cover Group, of 18 items, all but two multicolored; better ad including Seabury & Johnson allover with enclosure, Templin's Seeds & Plants card, Village Blacksmith, scarce 1901 Buffalo Exposition postmark on Larkin Soap Co. cover, etc.

Lot 1939    

Advertising Covers and Cards, about 700 with many good illustrations, shaded, front-and-back, a few corner cards only, plenty of topics, running generally from the1870's up to the early 1900's, with a very few later, foreign destinations, fancy cancels, early machines, generally better than the average with most fine to very fine, sleeved and priced, with prices running from a few dollars up to $45 or so for a total of about $13,000.
Estimate    $1,000 - 1,500.

Advertising Covers, 1850s-1900s, collection of over 140 covers with mostly illustrated advertising, noted many better including Silvers' Patent Excelsior Broom with bronze element with #65; Music Yale Seminary and Normal Academy of Music all-over bronze design on reverse of #11A cover; some cameos including New England Screw Co. of Providence R.I. #11A cover; The Masten and Wells Fireworks Mg. Co. of Boston with 2¢ Wash.; 1894 C.A. Hayes & Co. dealers in Lobsters, Soft Crabs, Oysters etc. with #279B; Kentucky Cardinal Cigars; etc.; some mixed condition, F.-V.F.

Advertising/Illustrated Cover Balance, of approximately 55 covers; includes a nice showing of multicolored litho ads including Majestic Mfg. Co. (two different), 1919 Village Blacksmith, 1911 Flexible Flyer, 1902 Frictionless, 1891 J.D. Larkin and the 1901 Grand Army of the Republic - 35th National Encampment, others with Out Sight mouse traps (two different), stamp collars, 1883 Eastman Business College, etc.; condition a bit above the norm.

(Expos) Exposition Postal History, 1893-1958, group of 25 covers and cards including 1903 Columbian post card with expo machine cancel; 1899 National Export machine cancel on coal ad cover; seven 1901 Pan-Am expo cards with some having expo postmarks; 1904 multicolor ad cover to Germany; two 1907 Jamestown expo cards with expo station machine cancels; three different 1915 San Francisco expo machines including model machine cancel SF15-02 on card; and later expos, F.-V.F.

Lot 1944    

(Expos) South Carolina Interstate and West Indian Exposition Collection, 1900-02, of 36 postcards and 18 covers; post cards with various series cards and a real-photo, 26 unused and used with two bearing the rare duplex postmark (Bomar C02-01, less than 15 known) with one going to Fiume, cover virtually all with the 1900 pre-fair flag slogan machine cancel (C02-04) with dates from July 3 (2nd day), one December 3 (Bomar lists as last day with only one known) and three on December 4 (this being the last day) with one on illustrated ad cover with patent wire opening, also an "Executive Department" exposition imprint cover with the "West Indian Station" flag cancel used Jan 23, 1902 (C02-03, EKU date); a nice collection with many scarce items.

Davis Washing Preparation and Spanish Salve; Dr. Marchists Uterine Catholicon red cameo; Fowler and Wells Phrenologists; Cleveland Water Cure; Geo. W. Merchant's Celebrated Gargling Oil (four); several 1¢ 1851-57 issue medical circulars; four Seabury all-over ads (one is front); Kickapoo Indian Medicine Co.; Wm. H. Tutt & Land of Augusta Ga. Druggists all-over ad; three different colors of Geo. F. Gant & Co. Druggist of New York all-over ads; etc.; mixed condition but many better designs, F.-V.F.

State Government Advertising Covers, 1850-1900's, approximately 250 covers mostly allover designs and many illustrated; nice range of states, departments and designs including 1880's State of Florida illustrated from Tallahassee, State of Maine with various departments and frankings as well as many other states, various House of Representative allover including various Congresses, free franks, etc., State of New York with a run of 1860-70's state seal bicolors, etc., overall Very Fine.
