Germany, Collection, 1872-1919, mostly used but comprehensive collection, on quad and computer generated pages with duplicates for shades and postmarks, fairly complete in basic issues and missing only a few items listed in Scott, Michel shades and perf varieties are identified, a few of the more expensive shield issues are in mixed condition but otherwise the collection is generally F/VF, better include unused/mint Scott 13, 22, 65A and used 8 and 76. Better Michel varieties are (expertized) 37a, 37b, 37c and as identified by the owner 31Ba, 35b, 35c, 37a,b,c,d and f, 38b, 39aa, 44ca, 50b, 64 II, 65 I, 65 II, 69aI, 80B, 82B and 96AIa, few postal history items are included, one of which is identified as Michel 19VII with catalog value €300 if correct; owners Michel catalog value for the stamps is over €7,000.

Germany, Collection, 1872-2010, mint collection in seven Lighthouse hingeless albums including Postwar Bundesrepublik, Berlin, and Zusammendrucke; nice completion in early Empire issues starting with Scott #1-2, large shield issues near complete lacking 2½gr, Scott #29a n.h. (with cert., cat $425), 1900 definitives complete, 1902 issues lacking only Scott #79, completion in later issues, semi-postals with good sheets including B33 and Ostropa, airmail with Zepps, Officials, completion in Bizone issues including horn overprints, Republic issues complete including Posthorns, Berlin issues complete except lacking only the Currency Victims sheet; nice condition throughout with much n.h., worth careful review.

Germany, Cover Balance, of several hundred covers in sleeves; mostly war time usages including some earlier, short and complete sets including semi-postals and occupationals, local issues, Zusammendrücke, inflationary, etc., includes some more modern material; worth a look.

Germany, Collection, in 4 springback binders, covers 1st being airmail starting with 1924 ZR3 commercial use, then 2 Hindenburgs, a flashy 1926 katapultflug, and then some attractive postwar selections running to 1962, 2nd being socked-on-the-nose town and/or special cancels running from 1933 up to the 60's, 3rd a wide variety of Allied Nations occupation issues mint NH, LH and used, including better items, and 4th some nicer inflation covers along with 50's and 60's thrown in.

Germany, Inflation Collection, 1920-23, specialized virtually all used collection with the large majority of material expertized, of regular issues, airmails and officials plus the "Deutsches Reich" overprints from Bavaria and Wurttemberg that count as "Germany" in the Michel catalog, minor duplication for multiples, shades and mint/used parallel, regular issues run from Scott 111 to 321 almost complete (missing Scott 210) with 264 stamps expertized genuine used, 20 used but not expertized and 6 mint, Inflation airmails are complete used and expertized, Officials are O1-O52, OL9-OL15, Bavaria O52-O69 and Wurttemberg O59-O63 and O176-O183 complete mint, used or both, with 28 used also expertized, better include used and expertized Bavaria 270A on piece, Germany 257-260, 299, 312-6, 320-1 and C1-C19, better used but not expertized are Scott 162-3, 165, 187a pair, 242A, 267, 302, 309, 311, 319, O41 and Michel 159b; owner's Michel catalog value, counting the non-expertized used as "used" is over €15,000.

Lot 2296    

Germany, Postal History Group, of 14 better items; includes four inflation airmail items with postcard postmarked 20 August 1923 from a son in Germany to his mother in Austria saying (paraphrased) "Hi Mom, send money (in Francs)" - presumably Swiss Francs due to the high inflation in Germany and Austria, a high inflation (but philatelic) airmail postcard postmarked 17 October 1923 accompanied by (apparently) a photo of the plane that carried it, three items of catapult mail: two picture postcards and one cover. The cover appears to be commercial and not philatelic (it is to a manufacturer of Pipe Organ Supplies in Maryland) and is a "double catapult" cover (seaplane to the ship "Europa" and catapult from "Europa" to New York), three items of Zeppelin mail including Scott C44 a postcard to Chicago advertising caviar, three Auschwitz Concentration Camp items from prisoners: two covers and one postcard, Postal Stationary with Thurn & Taxis Mi U25C used (has a 1.5cm tear but the 1997 Michel Postal Stationary catalog gives it a value of DM3,800 or €1,900).

Germany, Collection, 1924-45, with a few earlier in predominantly used collection in two binders with duplication for shades, postmarks, margins, watermark varieties, gum varieties, plate faults, multiples, etc., and a good selection of used Hindenburg booklet panes, varieties listed in Michel are noted, several copies are included for most issues, quality of the collection is higher than usual with relatively few stamps having faults, for regular issues, the collection is complete in the main Scott numbers (323 to 529: missing 525 but has 525a) and includes 363-5 mint hinged and used on cover, semi-postals are missing most miniature sheets but has many hundreds of others including B6, B18, B19-B22 (2 copies), B31, B34-B37 (2 copies, one on postcard), B38-B41, B44-B48, B49-B57 (missing B55 but includes B55a), B59-B67, B69-B78 and n.h. Michel H-Blatt 71, Airmail has (all used) C20-C26 (2 copies of C26), C27-C34, C35-C37 (2 copies of C37) and C46-C56, Officials complete used from O53-O103, Franchise complete used S1-S22, Military/Feldpost includes used Michel 2Bx, 3, 4 (3 copies) with total catalog if cancels are genuine of €1,220 plus 10BbII Inselpost.
