1867, 1¢ blue, F. grill, in combination with 1867, 2¢ black, F. grill on gray allover 1868 Grant campaign cover to Boston, tied by fancy blue stovepipe cancels with matching Leominster, Ms. cds; cover slight reduced at right and 2¢ with corner repair at upper right, Very Fine appearance.

1867, 2¢ black, F. grill, used with two 3¢ red, F grill (94) singles, cancelled or tied by circle of wedges, matching "Baltimore Md. Jan 4" cds on 1869 "Printed Matter" endorsed Baltimore Post Office bulletin to Rome, Italy, "Per English Mail closed" crossed out, red Calais (1.17.69) entry cds, rated as paid only to the border upon arrival with manuscript "20" centimes due, Rome (1.20.69) arrival backstamp; 2¢ pencilled in scuffed at bottom, internal splits, still Very Fine, possibly the only known Black Jack used on a double 4c printed matter rate cover to Italy, ex-Allen (illustrated in Lane book on p. 63) and Faiman, Faust.

1867, 2¢ black, F. grill, horizontal bisect used alone as 1¢, top half, tied by open grid, matching "North Bridgewater Ms., Dec 13" cds on unsealed envelope paying drop rate, with original 1868 enclosure titled "Encampment Fletcher Webster, Post No. 13, G.A.R." circular; slight perf toning, otherwise Very Fine and rare.

ONE OF ONLY TWO RECORDED HORIZONTAL BISECTS OF THE 2¢ F. GRILL USED ALONE AS 1¢.

We offered the other recorded horizontal bisect of the 2¢ F. grill used alone as 1¢ in the Fosdyke blackjack sale 38, lot 2185 (realized $3,850).

Transit, Jan 6" exchange cds and matching "6" overstruck by two "4" cent credit handstamps, carried by Cunard Line Russia from New York Jan. 6th to Queenstown arriving Jan. 15th, red Verviers (1.18) transit, "P.P." handstamp, blue crayon "fr 1½" debit rating, reverse with Verona (1.19) and Rome (1.21) arrival cds, manuscript "25" centesimi due rating; reduced at right, F.-V.F.
