Bond at North Kohala, sharp purple "Kohala, Hawaii, Mar 25, 1897" duplex (254.9a18); small edge tear, Very Fine.

Hawaii, Dead Letter Office, Honolulu, H.I. Nov 14 1899 (MH unrecorded, 1RR), clear strike of red oval on reverse of 1¢ red (UX8) postal card cancelled by bold "Honolulu. H.I., May 3, 1899" duplex to local address, matching red handstamp strikes of "Pas reclame, Unclaimed" (MH 767), "Return to Writer" hand and "Honolulu, Advertised, Jul 31, 1899" cds (MH 751), reverse with part-printed W.R. Castle notice in Hawaiian, Very Fine.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

He Dead Letter Office oval is known used only from May 18, 1899 to May 31, 1900.

Hawaii, Honolulu, H.I., Dead Letter Office, Apr 6, 1896, cds (MH 754) on 1¢ red on buff postal card (UX5) cancelled by "Honolulu H.I., Dec 30, 1895" duplex to local address, "Returned to Writer" pointing hand (MH 755) handstamp, purple "Honolulu, Advertised, Jan 31 1896" cds (MH 751), reverse with printed Honolulu Water Works form message in Japanese and purple "Andrew Brown" script handstamp, Very Fine and choice.

Hawaii, Napoopoo, Hawaii, Jan, purple cds (282.01, 1RR) used as receiver on 1¢ red postal card (UX4) canceled by "Honolulu, H.I., Jan 19, 1893" duplex postmark, interesting message "Mr. Gasper, Napoopoo, Dear Sir, I sent Pail by last W.G. Hall but in my hurry I forgot to put my name on the tag as I bought a new pail and the steamer was out from the wharf and I had to throw the pail on board.", Very Fine and rare Napoopoo postmark, Only 14 Strikes Recorded by Gregory.
