Hawaii, 1844 Wailuku, Maui to Natick, Mass., folded letter from missionary Edward Bailey to Rev David Wright, red "New Bedford, Ms., Apr 3" cds with matching straight line "Ship" handstamp and manuscript "14½" rate, forwarded to North Scituate with blue "Natick, Mass., Apr 8" cds and manuscript "Fowd - 10" totalling 24½, with lengthy 3 page letter with interesting content…I send you also a few numbers of the Friend - published by Mr. Damon; & also of the Polynesian - now a paper belonging to the Govt. & of course no longer free., mentions sending edge part of native stone adze and bowling…Another stone worn round they used for rolling, somewhat after the manner of nine pins, mentions his work at Wailuku Female Seminary, etc.; cover central file fold, F.-V.F.

Hawaii, Whalemen's Shipping List, From Anthon, Bolles & Co., Lahaina, Maui, 1849, printed ship list chronicling the arrival of every whaleship which entered Lahaina between July 27 and December 17 of 1849, sent under separate cover from Lahaina and then posted to New Bedford, Mass. with red "New York, 5 cts, Apr 7" integral rate cds; some minor fold separation, Very Fine, a very rare early shipping list.
Estimate    $1,500 - 2,000.

Hawaii, 1850 Honolulu to London, England, folded letter sheet with sender initials "R.C.W." of Hawaiian Minister of Foreign Relations Robert Crichton Wyllie, with "By first steamer, via Panama" routing endorsement at top, red "San Francisco, 40, Aug 1" integral rate cds with rate crossed out, black "59" handstamp applied and re-rated "56" in manuscript (40¢ for the Panama transit to N.Y. and 16¢ for transatlantic service) and "2/5½" British collect rating, reverse with "Sp 21, 50" receiving date stamp; cover with horizontal crease and light erosion at upper left, F.-V.F.

Hawaii, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Letter, ca. 1857 interisland cover sent from Honolulu to Lahaina by R.C. Wyllie, Minister of Foreign Affairs to George M. Chase, U.S. Consul, with Wyllie signature at lower left and wax seal Royal Crown "Minister of Foreign Affairs" impression; some light allover cover toning, F.-V.F.
