May 21" cds alongside, reverse with "Lahaina P.O., Hawaiian Islands, Apr. 23" origin cds; cover reduced at left, Very Fine, ex-Aall; with 1999 P.F. certificate.

Hawaii, 1871, 6¢ yellow green, tied by Segment Ring with Three Patent Punch (ring3-21(patent)), matching "Honolulu H.I., Jul 30" cds backstamp, combination franking of U.S. 5¢ blue (179) tied by cork cancel duplexed with "San Francisco Cal., Aug 10" cds on cover to Rome Italy, arrival backstamp, Very Fine; signed genuine by Ashbrook on reverse, with 1977 P.F. certificate.

Hawaii, 1894, 10¢ yellow green, pair, used with two 1¢ yellow (74) singles and 2¢ brown (75) strip of four, all tied by strikes of purple "Hookena, Hawaii, Mar 10, 1898" cds (281.01, R5) on package wrapper to Berlin, Germany; bright red "Honolulu, Hawaii, Mar 11, 1898" cds and matching Registered "R" handstamp, purple San Francisco (3.22) New York (3.28) transit backstamps, New York Registry Label (FX-NY1a) affixed; opened out for display, Very Fine and scarce registry use from Hookena to Germany.

Hawaii, 1894, 12¢ blue, two singles, used with 1¢ yellow (74) and 10¢ yellow green (77), all tied by purple four-ring cancels, matching "Pahala, Hawaii, Nov 16, 1898" cds (253.01, R3) on registered cover to Switzerland, red "Honolulu, Hawaii, Nov 18, 1898" cds and matching Registered "R" handstamp, reverse with additional Pahala cds, Tacoma (12.2) and New York (12.7) transits, New York Registry Label (FX-NY1a) affixed, Luzern (12.19) arrival backstamp.

Gregory records the Pahala 253.01 cds in purple only from March 4, 1897 to November 1898, this Nov. 16th possibly being the latest recorded.
