Transit, Oct 7" transit cds, Very Fine.

1873, 3¢ green, tied by cork cancel duplexed with "Newark N.J., Oct 12" cds, cover originally mailed without postage and "Held for Postage" circular handstamp struck, Good Samaritan label affixed reading in part "This Letter was detained in the Post Office at Newark, N.J. on account of non-payment of postage", postage affixed and sent to New York City; rough opening at top, small part of flap missing, F.-V.F.

1873, 6¢ dull pink, in combination with 1873, 3¢ green on 1875 folded letter to Paris, France, tied by perfect strike of N.Y.F.M. wedge type cancel (TR-W3a) with red "New York, Paid, Jul 24" cds additionally tying 3¢, blue French paquet cds and reverse with N.Y. cds with negative "A" duplex on reverse, Extremely Fine, a scarce N.Y.F.M. used between June and November of 1875.
