1870, 10¢ brown, H. grill, horizontal pair, rich color on bright paper, used with 24¢ purple (153), pastel shade, all tied by three strikes of circle of wedges cancels, red "Boston Paid Dec 18" cds on 1872 buff cover from Bissell correspondence to Ahmednugger, India, red crayon "36/2" double-rate credit, red London Paid (12.30) transit cds and red crayon "2" pence Colonial credit, reverse with Sea Post Office (1.17) oval and Ahmednuggur (2.2) receiving backstamp; cover has been lightly cleaned and markings touched up, pair hinged in place, Very Fine appearing grilled use paying double the 22¢ rate by British Mail via Southampton; with 1987 P.F. certificate.

Transit, Jun 29" cds reflecting the correct routing, reverse with numerous Swiss transits and receiving cds's, Very Fine; with 1993 P.S.E. certificate.

1870, 12¢ dull violet, H. grill, used with 1¢ ultramarine, grilled (134), and ungrilled 2¢ red brown (146), 3¢ green (147) and 6¢ carmine (148), all tied by grid cork cancels, matching "New York, Registered, Sep 21" rimless cds on triple-rate registered legal-sized cover to the U.S. Lighthouse Keeper at Leonardsville N.J., "K. & K. Oesterr: Ung: General Consulate in New York" imprint at top; cover just a bit reduced at left, two top edge tears, Fine and rare registered use; signed Sloane, with 1987 P.F. certificate (stamps were lifted for examination and properly replaced).

1870, 10¢ brown, horizontal pair, rich color, tied by quartered corks duplexed with "Yokohama, Japan, Nov 22" cds on 1871 gray folded cover to Milan, Italy, red "New York Paid All, Dec 27" exchange cds, endorsed "Via America" at top left, carried transatlantic by NDL Line Deutschland from New York Dec. 28th to Southampton arriving Jan. 7th, Milan (1.10) arrival backstamp; some tone spots mostly on reverse, Very Fine.
