New Zealand, 1857, Queen Victoria "Chalon Head", 1s blue green, imperf, unwatermarked, full to large margins except in at top, used with 2d blue (10), clear to large margins, each cancelled by numeral "16" barred oval of Port Victoria on large "Registered Letter" piece showing Kaiapoi (6.20.1862) and Christchurch (6.20) datestamps, Fine an unusual franking with the 1s affixed for the registration fee, ex-Kaye, Yeroc, Diamond; with 1948 R.P.S.L. certificate.
