Showing part of imprint at left, trivial wrinkle & blunt perfs, tied by "New Orleans/31 Mar." cds on 1861 folded letter originating from New York to Mexico, cover with manuscript routing endorsement "p Tennessee", "Via N. Orleans" (crossed out upon arrival in New Orleans) & "via Vera Cruz", cover sent by "Schepeler & Co." in New York, who were forwarding agents with their blue oval handstamp on front, sent to forwarder in New Orleans who placed the cover in the New Orleans mails for further transmission by the Post Office with their blue oval forwarder's handstamp on the backflap, "Cramer & Co.", cover with interesting contents which mention Political Affairs in the Country, Federal Government to evacuate Southern Forts & bloodshed may be prevented, etc., large sealed flap tear which extend to front of cover, Fine, a rare & fascinating cover given the routing & contents.
