Allen & Thurber, Manufacturers of Fire Arms. Colorless embossed corner card on backflap of buff cover franked with average 1851 3¢ dull red tied by blue grid with matching Worcester, Mass. cds alongside, the cover displays a stunning illustrated design of the Allen's Revolving Pistol, Extremely Fine and choice, this is one of the most important gun covers in existence and possibly the earliest American Illustrated Gun design, this cover sold for $1,800 + 10% buyer's premium in the 1987 Beals sale, which was the highest price paid for any Gun Cover in what is still the finest collection of Gun Covers ever formed.
