1851, 12¢ black, diagonal bisect. In combination with 1851, 1¢ blue, type II + 3¢ dull red on cover front to St. John, New Brunswick, all tied by grid cancels with matching "U.S. Express Mail, N. York, Oct 23" cds alongside, light red "U. States" in arch additionally tying 1¢ stamp, Very Fine, an extremely rare accepted bisect usage in combination with other stamps, the only known usage paying in part the 10¢ express mail rate, ex Chase; with 1972 R. Lowe and 1994 P.F. certificates, signed Calves and P.H. Ward, Jr. on reverse.
