(Mining) Spanish Bar, Middle Fork, Nov 3, 1850 Sunday. Dateline on 2-page miner's letter from Milton Stevens to his mother Abby Stevens, with content regarding fixing dam…When I last wrote to you I then expected to go to the south but before leaving we had a heavy rain which swept all of the damns away on this river. The consequences was that their was a grate chance for those who was not engaged in damning wall. I fell in with on (them - sic) and have been very busy since., Tells of cholera being very bad in the cities, with additional notation in pencil…this contains the piece of Gold I spoke of with a piece of book paper attached by sealing wax to letter to hold the gold and three placer gold nuggets (now contained in an attached plastic holder, some tape stains), F.-V.F., a rare letter with the placer gold contents.
