1910, 1¢ green, single used with 1910, 2¢ carmine pair, both tied by "Frederiksted 22/11 1911" cds on legal size "Consignee's Letter" from New York to Frederiksted, Danish West Indies, letter apparently sixth weight class requiring 60 bits postage (12¢) with partial payment of 25 bits (5¢) credited, circled "T" due handstamp and blue crayon "35" rating, DWI 5b and 30b postage dues (J5, J7) affixed to reverse; opened out for display, vertical fold affects 30b, Very Fine and scarce use.Scott No. 374 + 375 Estimate $400 - 600.
Consignee's letter given to ship's master just before embarking and contained shipping documents. Traveled on steamer "Parima" from New York to Frederiksted. Harbor regulation was to treat consignee letters as local letters. Local postage was 10 bits per 15 grams.
