Confederacy, "Belton, Texas, Oct. 1st 1861", manuscript postmark and matching "Paid 10c" rating on orange cover to Winchester Tenn., sharp "Columbus Ky Oct 20" cds with manuscript "Missent & ford" and "Due/5" ratings, blind embossed "Chamberlin & Earle Law" corner card; reduced slightly at left, corner flaw, Very Fine.

A RARE CSA TEXAS USE MISSENT AND FORWARDED FROM COLUMBUS KENTUCKY.

From early September 1861 until the latter part of February 1862, the Confederate forces occupied that portion of Kentucky located south and west of the Green River. Occupied post office in this area included such towns as Bowling Green, Columbus, Glasgow, Marion, Hickman and Hopkinsville. During the period of partial occupation, the occupied Kentucky was accepted into the Confederacy by the CSA Congress on December 9, 1861 as the 13th state.
