Charlestown Ms Apr 25 1862, red cds on buff cover to Boston Mass. bearing 1¢ blue (63), straddle s.e. at left, and 3¢ rose (65), tied by circular grid cancels, 1862 receipt docketing on back; 3¢ rounded corner, opening tears at right, Fine and scarce Charlestown carrier use, ex-Johnston.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

ONE OF ONLY THREE RECORDED CARRIER COVER CHARLESTON.

Charleston was one of the few small towns to have carrier service during the early 1860s. They had only one carrier, Joseph Bryant.
