(Wells Fargo & Co.) Eagle Pass, Texas, two strikes of purple origin straight line handstamp on 1890 2¢ entire (U311) with green Mexican frank (WFM-038), to Monterey, Mexico, accompanied by piece with oval company handstamp from Eagle Pass, Very Fine. Estimate $100 - 150.
In 1882 the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railroad extended to the border at Eagle Pass and went on to connect with Mexican National Railroad at Piedras Negras making Eagle Pass an important international center for the southwest.
