THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THE NAPOOPOO MANUSCRIPT POSTMARK.

This village on the coast at Kealakekua Bay was the site of the original Kealakekua post office. In 1857, the place was virtually deserted but it served as the landing for the populated upland district. When the Kealakekua office moved uphill in 1883, the office here was re-named to Napoopoo. In 1897, this office was put under the administration of the Kealakekua office.
