Forwarded by A.P. Everett, Honolulu H.I., red oval forwarder's handstamp on light blue Aug. 14, 1852 folded letter from Honolulu, Hawaii to Messrs. Augustine Heard & Co. at Canton, China in care of Messrs. Williams Anthon & Co. at Hong Kong, endorsed "p Reindeer" at top left, letter from A.A. Neilson mentions a shipment of Chinese laborers and that "the town is just recovering from the effects of a fever"; left panel missing, Very Fine, ex-Tows, Ostheimer, Advertiser; with 1996 P.F. certificate.

Abijah P. Everett arrived at Honolulu in 1846 and departed in 1861. While there, he was a commission merchant (1846-1853), joined Rice & Co. (1853-1854) and held various other positions.

This letter was carried as endorsed by American Clipper ship "Reindeer" that sailed from Honolulu on Aug. 18th. She was reported in port at Whampoa on Nov. 2nd.
