Arey, care of the American Consul, Cadiz, Spain, red "New-York Br. Pkt. Mar 13" exchange cds, carried by Cunard Line Canada from Boston Mar. 17th to Liverpool arriving Mar. 29th, London (3.29) transit backstamp but London did not allow unpaid letters to France at this time and returned to New York by Cunard Line America departing Mar. 31st arriving at Boston Apr. 14th, placed on sailing ship St. Louis departing New York Apr. 27th to Le Havre arriving May 20th, red Le Havre (5.20) arrival cds, blue Spanish entry backstamp and matching "4R." reales due handstamp, redirected back to Boston probably because Capt. Arey had sailed, red Havre "Espagne" (6.10) transit cds, carried by Union Line Zurich" from Havre Jun. 13th to New York arriving Jul. 23rd, bold "New-York 'Ship 5 cts' Jul 25" arrival due cds; most of two flaps missing, 3¢ creased, F.-V.F., A most unusual and well traveled cover.
