A REMARKABLE USE OF THE ANTEBELLUM BUCHANAN CAMPAIGN ENVELOPE IN THE CONFEDERATE MAILS DURING THE CIVIL WAR.

This type of Buchanan campaign envelope was manufactured during the campaign of 1856. In this instance, it was used by a resident of Marion, Alabama, during the war. Because Buchanan was popular in the South for his political views, this might also be regarded as a patriotic use.
