THE ONLY RECORDED APPROVAL LARGE DIE PROOF OF THE 1922 10¢ SPECIAL DELIVERY ISSUE IN UNLISTED DEEP VIOLET.

This proof is one of several pulled in January 1929 when Postmaster General Harry S. New was leaving office. It was signed and backdated by previous PMG Hubert Work (Secretary of the Interior in 1929). The color of deep violet was similar to the issued color of gray violet.
