THE FINEST OF ONLY TWO RECORDED EARLIEST DOCUMENTED USAGES OF THE 1917 10¢ SPECIAL DELIVERY ISSUE. AN IMPORTANT USAGE THAT PREDATES THE OFFICIAL FIRST DAY BY TWELVE DAYS.
There were two covers used on Nov. 17th, 1927 from the same non-philatelic correspondence that contained legal patent documents that needed rush service to the Washington D.C. patent office. The other example was faulty and last offered in the Martin collection where it realized $2,300.
