1859 (Nov. 18) Incoming to Westport N.S. via Yarmouth, light yellow cover addressed to Capt. Jesse Harris, Westport N.S., "Forwarded by Capt Churchill, Sch Reliance of Yarmouth, N.S.", entered mails with red "YARMOUTH N.S. / SHIP LETTER" two-line handstamp and bearing Nova Scotia 3d bright blue (2, 2a), two singles and bisect, margins to touches, each tied by oval grid cancel, reverse with red Yarmouth (11.18.1859) cds and Westport (11.21) transit cds; some edge wear and soiling, file fold crease through stamps, F.-V.F. appearance, ex-Brouse, Pack, Lichtenstein, Clark; with 2011 Greene Foundation certificate.

ONE OF ONLY TWO FRANKED PENCE-SHIP LETTER USAGES RECORDED.

Of the two recorded franked Pence Issue ship letter usages, the other was mailed in the Cents-Period from St. Pierre et Miquelon via Pictou to Lockport with a convenience overpayment of 1d for the 13½c. rate (equivalent of 5d.cy.).
