1838 (Dec. 19) Odell Town, Canada to London, England via Montreal, docketed outer folded letter sheet with faint red "Montreal, L.C., JA 4, 1839" cds and matching "Paid" handstamp with red manuscript "37½" for prepayment at the double rate to New York, second "Paid" handstamp and red "9" pence rating for double the 4½d postage to U.S. border, plus 25 cents freight money (not shown, as was the custom at the Montreal Post Office), red "New-York Jan 8" cds, carried by Blue Swallowtail Line Roscoe from New York Jan. 8th to Liverpool arriving Jan. 29th, "Liverpool/Ship Letter" two-line backstamp and rated "4/9" due for the triple rate to London (11d inland plus 8d ship), red London (1.30) arrival backstamp, F.-V.F., A scarce freight-money cover from Canada.Estimate $500 - 750.
