1857 (Jan. 6) New York N.Y. to Cognac, France, blue datelined folded letter with red "New-York, Br. Pkt. Jan 7" exchange cds, carried by Cunard Europa departing New York Jan. 7th to Liverpool arriving Jan. 18th, red London (1.19) transit backstamp and framed "GB/1F60C" accounting handstamp debiting France with bulk rate per 30 grams, Calais entry cds and matching "8" decimes due handstamp, Cognac (1.21) arrival backstamp, Very Fine Pre-U.S.-France treaty mail sent during the first week of the three-month period., ex-Colin Tabeart.
Estimate    $150 - 200.

The "Three Month Period" is the time between Jan 1, 1857, when new the Anglo-French postal treaty reduced the rates between the two countries, and the start of the U.S.-French postal treaty on Apr. 1, 1857.
