'City of Baltimore', Augst. 10th", no U.S. markings and apparently carried privately on Inman Line City of Baltimore from New York Aug. 10th to Liverpool arriving Aug. 22st, reverse with "Liverpool, U.S. Packet, AU 22, 61" cds, matching "1/-" one-shilling due handstamp for packet fee, London N.W. (8.22) arrival cds. Estimate $300 - 400.
If the letter had been entered in the U.S. mails, it would have been placed in a closed mail bag marked for London and off loaded at the Queenstown stop, thus saving a day to London.
