Mails Suspended, two strikes of blue oval handstamp on rebacked cover front bearing well centered 3¢ rose (65) tied by grid cancel, matching "Morristown N.J. Jun 8 1865" cds to Charlottesville Va., fresh and Very Fine.
C.S.A. Catalog No. MS-01; $2,500    Estimate $1,000 - 1,500.

A rare late use of the "Mails Suspended" oval applied at the dead letter office on mail to the South where mail service had not been reestablished due to the war. This cover was pictured on page 96 of Jim Monroe's "A Lifetime of Collecting Confederate States of America Postal History" book.
