Interesting content regarding the yellow fever, "We are up to our eyes in the yellow fever, Pensacola the Montpelier of the Gulph for health, is most terribly scourged. Half of the dennizens are dead including Dr. Bronaugh and the other half have fled …we are now 5 miles from town on the sea shore where we will remain until first frost".
This manuscript postmark is believed to have resulted from the temporary relocation of the Pensacola post office during this outbreak of yellow fever.
