(1846-1848 Mexican-American War) Braozs, Jany 11, two-line error postmark (Type III var.) and matching "10" rating handstamp on folded letter datelined "Renosa, Jan 5 1847" (actually 1848) to Attleborough, Bucks County, Pa., 2+ page interesting letter reading in part "…Our company still remains in this place, and has been for over 4 months. We get along with the people pretty well - so long an acquaintance having overcome in a measure the frea and repugnance which they had for all american Soldiers. which feelings were engendered by the disgraceful conduct of the first volunteers who came out Robbing plundering and violating the women of the towns and villages in their way through the country - …Our army on this line are doing nothing at present, more than occupying the posts along - so as to keep up the communications…And the feeling manifested in the Presidents message is not of a nature calculated to stay the hitherto successful tide of operations - but I am in hopes they will see their folly/ before long and accede to the terms offered them…"; some edge wear and toning, Fine and rare error postmark.
