(1846-1848 Mexican-American War) Pt Isabel Sep 30, two-line italicized shaded postmark and manuscript "10" rating on folded letter datelined "Camp opposite Comargo Sept 20th 1846" to Boston Mass., endorsed "Care of John Tyler", letter to brother reads in part "…I am not killed by the Mexicans east up by the musquetoes devioured by the toads nor anything of the sort…Gen. Taylor has taken Monterey without any fighting and there appears to be but little probability of our having any fighting to do for the very good reason that we can find nothing to fight…", 1846 docketing at left, Very Fine.
