Ford & Co.'s Express, green circle and star handstamp on reverse of 1851 folded letter datelined "California Middle Fork of the American river, April the 10th 1851" to New Albany, Indiana, entered the mails with red "Sacramento City, Cal., Apr 21" cds and matching large "40" rate handstamp; slight cover soiling and edge wear, F.-V.F., ex-"Sacramento".
