1870, 10¢ brown, tied by bold strike of red "New York, Paid All, Nov 22" cds on 1871 gray folded letter from Aux Cayes, Haiti to New York, N.Y. via St. Thomas, blue "Brown, Ross & Co., Aux Cayes, Hayti, Nov 4, 1871" double-oval, endorsed "Via St. Thomas", carried by private ship to St. Thomas, entered mails with partial "St. Thomas 14/11 1871" cds and bearing Danish West Indies, 1866, 3¢ rose (2), clear to large margins, tied by matching five-ring canceler with center dot, carried by U.S. and Brazil Mail Steamship Line North America departing St. Thomas Nov. 14th to New York arriving Nov. 21st; some edge wear.

The local Danish West Indies postage was prepaid by the 3¢ 1866 imperforate stamp. The United States 10¢ steamship rate was prepaid by the 10¢ 1870 Bank Note issue.
