Little is known regarding this office. Official records, including records of stamp distribution to country offices, make no mention of this office. Half-way houses on the road from Hilo to Volcano House were located here. In 1899-1900, an unofficial postal agency was operated here by J. W. Mason, the Olaa postmaster.
