British Columbia & Vancouver Island, Victoria Post Office, oval postmark with matching oval "Paid" handstamp on circa Apr. 7th 1860 light blue cover to London, England, endorsed "England via New York", red "San Francisco, Cal, Paid, Apr 13, 1860" exchange cds and prepaid red crayon "58" cents rating at lower right for two-times the 29¢ rate, sent on the Butterfield overland mail route, New York red "19" single-weight credit handstamp to G.B., carried by Cunard Line Africa from New York May 9th to Queenstown arriving May 19th, red London (5.21) arrival cds, Very Fine, ex-Kutz, Walske.

The Victoria frank was used to indicate prepayment of the 5¢ (2½d) Colonial postage to the United States prior to the introduction of Victoria stamps in the colony (EKU April 10th 1860). Illustrated in Gold Fever by Ken Kutz as fig. 172.
