British Columbia & Vancouver Island, Post Office, Victoria Vancouver Island, Paid, blue oval paid frank handstamp and manuscript "Paid $1.50" express rating on orange Jun. 1864 cover to Ingersoll, Canada West bearing U.S. 3¢ rose (65) and 12¢ black (69), each tied by strike of cogwheel fancy cancel duplexed with "San Francisco, Cal, Jun 20, 1864" cds, partial Ingersoll July arrival backstamp, Very Fine, ex-Wellburn.
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.

This cover was sent by express from mainland British Columbia as indicated by the $1.50 fee to Victoria where the Paid frank handstamp was applied. In March 1864, the west-coast rate to Canada was reduced to 10¢, but that news was slow to reach Victoria.
