British Columbia & Vancouver Island, Barnard's British Columbia Express, printed fancy scroll paid frank on cover bearing Canada 3¢ Small Queen (37b), two singles, cancelled by two strikes of "BX" (Barnard's Express) cancellation (Jarrett type 104), sent to Victoria where handed to Wells Fargo and stamps cancelled by blue "Wells Fargo & Co., Victoria" oval handstamp; some edge wear, Very Fine and rare use; with 1996 Holcombe certificate.
Estimate    $1,500 - 2,000.

This cover was carried by Barnard into Victoria where turned over to Wells Fargo for carriage to San Francisco. The BX was a large horse ranch owned by Francis Barnard. Whether this handstamp refers to the ranch or only to Barnard's Express is not known.
