British Columbia & Vancouver Island, Victoria Post Office, oval handstamp with matching oval "Paid" handstamp on 1860 cover to London, England, endorsed "England via New York", red "San Francisco, Cal, Paid, Jun 15, 1860" exchange cds and prepaid red crayon "116" cents rating for four-times the 29¢ rate, sent on the Butterfield overland mail route, New York magenta "76" manuscript rating credit to G.B., red London entry cds; cover edge wear at right, otherwise Very Fine.

The Victoria frank was used to indicate prepayment of the 5¢ (2½d) Colonial postage to the United States prior to the introduction of Victoria stamps in the colony (EKU April 10th 1860).
