Davis, William Campbell and Mather Freer be hung by the neck until they are dead on Monday next between the hours of 10 & 2." and signed by several and approved by "K.H. Dimmick, Alcalde", Very Fine.

Accompanied by a short story "A Pioneer Reminiscence, The First Hanging of Americans in the State of California" concerning Davis, Campbell and Freer and their crime of stealing gold dust.
