(Retaliatory Rates) 1848 (Nov. 14) Antwerp, Belgium to Castine, Me., folded letter with red "Anvers 14 Nov" origin cds and manuscript "24" décimes prepaid rating on reverse for all transit fees, manuscript "1/8" 1s8d Belgian credit to G.B., London and Liverpool (11.17) transits, carried by Cunard Line Britannia from Liverpool Nov. 18th to Boston arriving Dec. 6th, red "Boston Ms. 'Ship' Dec 6" cds and matching "29" retaliatory rating handstamp for 5¢ inland plus 24¢ packet fee, Very Fine.

Letter carried on the 22nd of 25 Cunard mail voyages to the U.S. under the retaliatory order.
