Confederacy, (Flag) 7-Star Flag, red and blue allover patriotic design with flagstaff and red strips in crosshatch appearing like woven cloth, with an 8th star penned in at center of star field, on cover to Columbus, Ga. franked with U.S. 1857, 3¢ dull red tied by blue "Cassville, Ga., May 2" cds; cover with a couple unnoticeable sealed tears at top and some erosion in 3¢ at top, Very Fine appearance. C.S.A. Catalog No. F7-3 var.

A RARE U.S. USED IN THE CONFEDERACY USAGE FROM GEORGIA ON A 7-STAR FLAG PATRIOTIC WITH AN EIGHTH STAR ADDED REPRESENTING VIRGINIA.

Virginia seceded on April 17th and was admitted to the Confederacy on May 7th, five day after this cover was posted.
