1916, $1 violet black, o.g., never hinged, exceedingly well centered, strong color and impression on bright paper, fresh and Extremely Fine to Superb; with 2008 P.S.E. certificate Graded (XF-Superb 95, SMQ $5,750). Scott No. 478 $1,400.
Only two have graded higher (both 98) and eleven others share this grade. This issue was in use for less than six months before the Perf 11 stamps were produced, and it is especially scarce in such outstanding condition with perfect centering.
