Nova Scotia, 1853 (Mar. 22) Knutsford, England to H.M.S. "Megson" at Portsmouth, Forwarded to West Indies and via Halifax, cover addressed to 2nd Engineer originally sent from Mobberely, entered mails with G.B. 1841, 1d red, plate 159 tied by numeral Knutsford "425" grid, reverse with green Knutsford (3.22) origin backstamp and London (3.23) transit, upon arrival readdressed to HMS Medea in the West Indies, manuscript "1/-" rating, carried by Orinocco from Southampton to St. Thomas and then by Derwent to Barbados, reverse with Barbados (4.22) arrival cds and additional red Apr. 22nd double-arc ties stamp, then by Spray via St. Thomas, Bermuda to Halifax (7.9 backstamp) and "1/3" cy. 1s3d due handstamp, then Lady Seymour to Bermuda and Clyde from St. Thomas (9.17) to Jamaica, reverse with Port Royal (9.21) backstamp, finally endorsed "Gone To England" and returned by Dee leaving Nov. 11th via St. Thomas and then La Plata to Southampton arriving Dec. 16th; opened on three sides for display, Fine.
