Phillips at Lamar, Texas Republic, group of 5 letters comprising "Houston May 11th 1842" datelined letter carried privately to Lamar, 1840 New York red cds with manuscript. "Ship" and "25" ratings and partial "Wm. Bryan, Agent of the Texian Post Office Dt., New Orleans" oval backstamp; 1840 New York via black "Galveston Texas" oval and "Ship" handstamp; 1841 New York to Lamar with red "Galveston Texas" oval and "Ship handstamp, 1841 New York via "Wm. Bryan, Agent of the Texian Post Office Dt., New Orleans" oval backstamp and red Galveston oval and "Ship" handstamp; some toning and aging, F.-V.F.
